One Trunk Support Rod or Two?

This '65 Barracuda for sale with the trunk lid open looks like it has a small rod on the driver's side and the common (for '65) ratchet/click type trunk support on the passenger side. Did the factory use both of those items on new vehicles? Thank you.

Back in the 70's guys used to go to the junk yard and get the factory mechanism and brackets to weld on to the other side .Having 2 helps the hinges .I have a spare with brackets for the 64-65 I'd part with .Those screen door closer types are real garbage.The mechanical ones are way better . The rod pictured is something someone just put there to help hold up the trunk lid straight.
 
'64-early '65 used the ratchet prop.....late'65-'66 used the "speargun". The factory didn't use both. Added prop in the photo.
