I need opinions from people that have been able to compare the aftermarket unsilenced air cleaner ( 68/69 style ) to the factory mopar pieces. Is the quality as good as factory? Also do the bends look correct? I am not building a numbers car, just want to know if they are worth the money. They can be bought brand new, cheaper than the factory pieces sell for these days.

I bought a Mopar Performane one years ago and it looks exactly like the originals....I also have a chrome one and it too looks factory and both accept the factory pie tins.....I would go "re-pop" on this one and leave the originals for the numbers guys :glasses7:

That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks.

Glad I could help :glasses7:

BTW, how much are they now? I bought my wrinkle finish one from the Mopar dealer in the mid 90's and think at that time they were $50, probably more now lol

Mancini racing has the black wrinkle for $115 and chrome are $155. The originals sell for more than that no matter where they are sold.

Do the repops have the same smaller hole in the baseplate ? If so it wont fit most other carbs. The early Carter AFBs had a smaller dia.

Mopars equipped with AFB's never came with this style air cleaner, just the AVS carbs and also fits Holley's

So OEM chrome unsilenced air cleaners and carbs on our HP 273s are wrong ?

The OP stated "68/69" air cleaner, Commando 273 was 65-67.

Hmmm I wonder if they are still available thru the dealer? Also, are these the ones that use a pie plate / pie tin? Or did they use the decal for engine call out?

I got mine thru the dealer when it was a "Mopar Performance" part, might still be able too, just look in the Performance catalog.
