Nice...

A couple words of caution:

You ordered the aluminum water pump. Your car (68 barracuda) came with a cast iron pump and the lower radiator hose is on the opposite side, also any power steering brackets from the 68 set up bolt to the water pump which is not the same as the cast iron pump for power steering mounting...

also did you intend to order an alternator with a built in regulator? That's what you ordered, it's hard to catch, but you have to look down the list to find it.

Your car came with the "round back" alternator and a single field alternator. You ordered a square back alternator, if I remember correctly from my younger days, the square back will have an interference with the stock 68 small block mounting...

Just wanted to alert you in case you weren't aware of these issues...

Hmmm.....
Only ordered one water pump.....messed up when I did that cut-and-paste! LOL
I'll go verify i didn't order the alum one....I don't want that...Summit is GREAT about returns thank God!

As for the alternator, I know mine is not original to the car....the car came with a /6....it's been tweeked all around for almost 50 years.

Again, if it don't fit, I guess I'll be exchanging that too!

Thanks for noticing those things!

My point about the alternator that you ordered is that that one COMES WITH A BUILT IN REGULATOR...

I'm helping another member with his 69 Dart and he made that same mistake. I told him to get the proper field, amp rate, pulley config and somehow they sent him that one with the internal regulator which requires bypassing whichever factory regulator that you may have right now. They do offer the same alternator WITHOUT the internal regulator which will just bolt in and clip up to your existing wiring without any modifications. You just have to make sure that they know you want the one without the internal regulator.

I guess I'll return and exchange that then. ...and verify if my old one is square or round back.
At least Summit won't make a fuss about it!
Do you know a Summit alternator that is correct?

Jeff

Looks like you have some work ahead of you. I always like it when the UPS guy brings me new stuff, sure hate to write that check the next month though.

Congratulations, on a feast fest of speed goodies,& Christmas 8 months early. As for the alternator,(if you have one now)_I would find a local automotive electrical rebuilder. They usually cost a little more, you know it fits,& they usually do a better job than cut rate rebuilders..Just, my opine

Ok..... the water pump I ordered is fine.

But tomorrow I will return the alternator and order one that is externally regulated.

Ok....how's this alternator?

That looks close, but says it's not one wire capable. Do you have the 70 and later voltage regulator or 68 style?

Or the listing can be wrong...

I believe it's post '70 regulator
And this single field alternator is right with my new harness?

70 and later used the more efficient voltage regulator than the 68 and earlier single field solid state regulators.

If you have the 70 and later voltage regulator, then you need a dual field alternator and to run the wires properly if your harness has the single field wire. You should be able to add that separately...

Ok...well it's a brand new M&H harness for my 1968...so, worse case I'll be back asking more questions! LOL !

Thanks a ton for all the help on this!

I hope you know what will come next.... progress! LOL

Made a bunch of progress today...

Got my glove box in, gauges in and wired, steering column in and ready to gasket match my heads.
Next is front end rebuild then reassemble the engine and get it back in!
