Original 1967 insulation? above kickpanels.

My Duster had the insulation up by the wiper pivots but no yellow insulation by the kick panels. Most of my interior had been previously eaten by tiny beasts though

On my 69 Polara there was a 1" dab of adhesive in the middle of it, it was also half the size.

Interesting. I removed the passenger side and there's a backing board but not fiberglass.
While in there I noticed a plug in the recess where yours is open.
Was the antena cable run through the holeI circled in white?

I believe so, the insulation is attached to a backing board and the board attached to the car with adhesive, not the other way around like the firewall (with pins).
The insulation is also different than the firewall insulation.
Mine also has the kick panel insulation.

Ok. The right side upper board fits in like this
Mine is missing the fiberglass but there is glue residue on that side.
The yellow wire for the door switch is a little different than in Alan's car probably because his is a fastback and mine's a notch with just a dome light.

Actually, now I think the way I show it in post 14 may be wrong.
I found the other side in a box of interior materials I had saved.
It still has most of the fiberglass glued to it.
Assuming Al's car was assembled correctly, then for the fiberglass to face inboard, this would be the passenger side panel.
The notched one must be the driverside panel.
So now the question is how to reattach the fiberglass? Maybe spray glue it to rosin paper or ...?

Update.
Restored the panels.
Passenger side
Heater box was out so this was the opportune time to install the upper insulation panel.
In this mockup without either insulation panel its easy to see where the upper one was glued.
