out of the norm, for Mr. Norm

Before you junk your other cars (other forum link) you need to think about offering them up here, for parts at minimum. The disk brake systems are definately in demand, plus other parts too.

wel now ive seen it all, ive been to many lead sled events,, i love the mercs,,and the rivs look good to as a low rider,, as well as the 64 impala,,that all that car is good for,,, but ive never seen a mopar low rider,,
dont tyr putting a HEMI in it if your gonna make it hop,,,it may slam to the ground, and end up in china,,,,

but at least your a mopar guy,,,some one in the low rider world,,representing us,,,i guess,,,
ya they are nice cars, but there not mopars lol. i grew up around mopars so thats all i am, MOPAR OR NO CAR!!

If you are ganna go with the daytons I think you should use silver ones. The whole "Green is fo tha money and gold is fo tha honeys" thing died in 1992 along with mini trucks with neon drippy paint paint jobs, thank god! Other than that I think it will look cool.
thanks man. trust me the rims wont be gold, that was a guick photoshop someone else did for me,to be honest,i hate gold

ya im not scrappin em whole. im buildin a shed right now so i can completely strip em so when i do scrap em,they just be shells im gonna be using the k-frame and rear end off the rolled over car (gonna reinforce em so i dont have to have the driver outta camision) and im gonna cut up the fenders off the rolled over dart to patch up the ones on the black car

Thats good about the hopping. Thats going to be a slick azz cruzer when you get done!

& the car you have listed as a 80/81 cordoba is actually a Dodge Mirada...pretty rare!

thanks man

& i thought it was a doba as i found it on cardomain under cordobas

heres another photoshop someone else did for me a while back. this is more the color i want with the rims. yay or nay on the door bumpers though?? this pic was when i was gonna shave em,then after i got this one i figured id keep em to help break it up,now i dunno lol

Here are a few "wild" ideas for your Dart that I think it can be proven helpful.
1. Wet-sand and buff it.
2. Find a set of rallye wheels and trim rings.
3. Enjoy a nice piece of american iron that they dont make anymore.

Jackhammering the piss out of it will only decrease the value and half-*** wreck the future of any sixteen year old that just got his licence to come across something cool to fix up with his father.

Just my opinion on the matter- no offense.

got a set of rallye wheels, but dont like the looks of em, i got someone thatll paint it,and im gonna enjoy the hell outta this car, hell i already do!

and if you have read any of this thread, you woulda read that i WILL NOT be hopping this. itll be a clean cruizer that will simply go up n down from side to side and the occasional 3 wheel. and it will have frame connectors and anything else i can figure out on how to reinforce it WITHOUT a cage

Oh. I guess I should have read the thread...
Then I would know that it would only be going up and down-side to side.
Oh. And occasionally on three wheels... thats not jackhammering the piss out of it.

Forget I said anything.

F it up nice.

SpikeKid, If your intentions are to make your car a low rider and it's done right I think it would look great. I don't know much about the lowering and how it's done . I think if it's done right and does not make the car unsafe then you got yourself a custom mopar that YOU like. There are alot of dedicated mopar guys here that won't like what your doing but do it anyway. When you lower your car does it take away from the cars ride and cornering ability? Will you still be able to make it run like a mopar should? I look forward to seeing your progress and how it's done. Good luck on your build.

thanks man. after i put the hydralics in, it will be a much rougher ride, but to me,itll be worth it to have something out of the norm. i shouldnt take away from cornering abilitys and ya i sapose it could run like a mopar should lol. its got a 318 in it with 44xxx on the clock,so its just broken in. i got a 4bbl and 340 cam i might throw one it but with the price of gas i may leave it as a 2bbl

Just make sure that it runs as well as it looks when it's all done. I did alot of tune ups and on the spot carb rebuilds for guys in high school that had a real nice lowrider, custom paint, hydros and a leaky carb or crappy running chrommed out motor. They looked real nice sitting on the side of the road not moving.

i like low lows but wouldn't even think of doin it to my vali. Not to jack ur thread spikey but if it was my duster, and i liked low lows and hot rods. id slap in a nasty smallblock. some hushpower mufflers to quiet it down a little. then salam it on some 13s with and fool everyone. b/c have any of you ever been beat by a wheels hopping pancake flopping lowrider? lol fuckin sweet. id probably die laughing to if i saw it skating past me :bootysha:

b/c have any of you ever been beat by a wheels hopping pancake flopping lowrider?

The answer to that is "NO". I dont think you could make a fast lowrider. quick, maybe but not fast. If it was the case, we would see more of them at the track.

F it up nice.

You are obviously not getting it.
He acknowledged up front he is not going to follow the norm on this build. Just because he is not following your standard (polish, rallye wheels) doesn't mean he is doing it wrong, he is just doing it differently. It is his to do what he wants.
At least the other members who do not share his opinion and direction can do it in a civil manner.

I do get it.
It was a contradiction to say "I am not hopping it, it will just be going up and down side to side. And on three wheels."

I posted three ideas and followed it with "no offence".
Sorry if were buthurt here.

Just thought I would throw the "wild" ideas out there.

If thats not civil I don't know what is.

That's not a contradiction....there's a big diff between going up and down and three wheel stands as too bouncing the crap out of it. come on guys give the guy some slack it's not like he's dropping a ford engine in it:)

ya itll have to run good,as itll be one of my dailys:snakeman:

ya there is a big difference in hoppin it then just goin up n down and three wheel. up n down and 3 wheel are smooth, like a bed on a dump truck or the forks on a forklift. hopping it will deffinitly tweak something if not reinforced correctly.

and about the ferd engine comment, i hate people that put chebby or ferd engines in mopars, but love it when people put mopar engine in chebby or ferds:toothy10:

heres somethin for all yall. my 87 5th ave,my 1st low. once i get my plates from the dmv (had to mail in for hobbiest plates) and change the rear axle and front rotors on the dart,im gonna throw the wires on that and put hydros on the 5th. i already added frame connectors and alumium isolator mounts. i will be adding a bridge above the rear axle and reinforcing the front shock towers on the k-frame.

WOW, I see you got the chain wheel on that thing. Classic lowrider8)

It is not for me but it is your car. So I say, "have fun".

Happy Motoring.

This is the closest I'll get to a lowrider Mopar. This one's a Dodge Polara from the '07 Mopar Rally show.
thats nice, its even got the bellflower exhaust. cant see in the pics of my 5th but i got those too

Hopping versus 3 wheels and side to side is not the same but that is beside the point.

I'm just defending a guy who is going against the norm, (basis of hotrodding) and catching flack for it. Everyone else here has been pleasant in their response but you have to throw your "subtle" "F It up" comments out there.

You seem more "buthurt" that his is not following your terribly insightful, "wild" ideas of polish, and rallye wheels, with your "F it up nice" crap. Then you want to hide behind no "offence"

Support the guy or not, it is your choice, but don't get "buthurt" if someone steps to his defense when you talk crap in his thread.

Spikekid999, GOOD LUCK with your project. I will not cloud your thread with any more negative stuff.

:-D

Terrible insight?
My insight is totally inline with 99% of classic car restorers.
I believe in "to each his own" but advice is never a bad thing.
I hope he does what he wants with this car.
I just think hydraulics are not the best for this one.
It looks like a straight old car that is complete.
Hense- my "wild" ideas.
Have a good day.

I don't care what you drive - if you like to turn wrenches yourself, take pride in your ride, preserve it if it deserves it, etc then you're a car guy regardless. We all have different tastes - but I'd rather see a young guy on a creeper under his car late Friday night, than out causing trouble or staring at his XBOX or watching trash TV. There's alot I don't "get", customized PT Cruisers with timeout dolls leaning against the grills, unlimited hydro sized spoilers on Accords, I could go on ..... but at least it's all good, clean fun - and we need more of it. My son drives a Focus SVT and I may have to force myself to get into helping him with mods, but at least we can share quality time together. But if he ever calls my Dart ugly again, it's on son !

Despite the work and money you spend twords 'low-riding it', you will probably lose your tail...BAD if you ever want or HAVE to sell it. so plan on keeping it forever.

if you plan on keeping it forever thats great, if not....go another route

Still ugly as sin, sorry it is your car, but damn...that looks like a clean car to start, never in my wildest dreams would i do that to a clean duster. Buy a Nova!!

Terribly insightful....meant tongue in cheek.

I agree that your suggestions will maximize the value of the car, and that they do fit for 99% of the classic car market. Hell, what you suggest is what is sitting in my driveway, rallye wheels and all. But this guy is obviously going a different direction, he admitted it up front, so what works for 99% (including me) is not what he wants.

I guess the "go ahead fock it up" is what caught my nerve. I personally believe there are better vehicles out there to do this with. But, if everyone only stuck to basic themes, there would be no creativity. Without the creativity, there would be no Pro Street, Pro Touring, G Machines, lowriders, Lowered or air bagged trucks, etc.
