Right, but pretty much everyone else on the planet can give you a shipping price instantly. If I go to Summit and don’t spend $109 I get all my shipping options and prices right on my cart. Even if I do spend $109 and get free shipping I still see upgraded shipping options and prices if I need faster service. If I go to Rock Auto it’s the same. I can go and compare prices instantly between several retailers and figure out the best price without placing my order or waiting for a call back, and in most cases I even have a delivery date estimate for those situations where I need the part faster and will pay more to have it sooner.
With Mancini you have to either place the order and find out later that shipping was double anywhere else and as a result you’re spending more money, or you have to place your order with that note in the comments and wait for the communication back from them. Well, in that amount of time my parts from Summit will already be on the truck and I’ll have the tracking number.
I’ve done business with Mancini a couple times, their shipping costs and shipping times have never been competitive. I’m sure it doesn’t help that in my particular case I’m across the country from them, so it’s kind of a worst case scenario for their shipping practices.
But in this day and age there’s absolutely no reason that their shipping costs can’t be automated. It’s standard practice across online retailers (even small ones!), Mancini is the exception.
And yes, Mancini has definitely lost business from me because of those policies. So if Mancini is still listening, I understand that upgrading your system may be expensive, but I’m absolutely positive you’re losing business because of your current model.
