example of 15 inch trim ring, has to be packed in at least a 17x17x5 box for insurance and packing material. now the box dimension then weight as a secondary factor. its also called chargeable weight based of package size, its an algorithm they all use. we cannot get around this factor. All of the large companies cost average and have a larger discounted rate then we do. even with our system having weights it is beneficial for us and the end consumer to pre package/box to get the best rates between the carriers.
because of dimension weight calculations, years ago ALL shipping companies as with freight carriers have gone to DIM's .Why can't you provide the shipping costs without having to check and get back to the customer ? You know their address and you know the address of where the parts are being shipped from.
Tell us the reason for that without trying to make yourself look better by comparing to other companies. Are customers not more apt to accept your shipping charges the more they get into making an order ? Some may only need a little time and some may need a considerable amount of time to find their items and order. Your policy seems advantageous to you and a disadvantage to customers.
