I've been looking for a 64/65 barracuda for awhile and this one popped up local. I couldn't stomach the kind of coin he's asking. Heck I sold the Dart for $25k but it was WAY more upgraded than this.

It's been for sale for awhile now and I noticed he already lowered the price.

What y'all think? Overpriced? 1965 Plymouth barracuda

i think it's a *touch* on the high side, but it's got a lot of serious hardware.

340, 4spd, 3.55SG 8.75, TTI headers... you'd be at damn near half the ask trying to put all that together.

it looks reasonable and presents well, but that headliner? nah man. that's a demerit.

i'd say high teens, mayyybe touching 20 would be the money-- but that could swing either way with an in person view.

I like the look of the car, it is nice, you should barter with the owner if its what you want. The pics show a cracked dash pad, missing rubber on the door jam rear window, is that the headliner hanging down, just can't tell from the pictures.... I would offer 18,000 and make sure to look and look again, good luck!

Look at the pecking order of Mopars, what cars are worth the most down to the bottom of the barrel. Our A bodies are bringing some good money. I have seen 340 4 speed Dusters and Demons bringing $40,000. Darts, Swingers and Scamps are next in the $30,000 range and the early A's are bringing upwards of $20,000+ I sold my 66 Dart for good money but it didn't command top dollar because it wasn't finished. Still worth it though.

If it's straight and rust free I think it's worth it. Fastback Barracudas, any year bring a premium price. Plus a 340 in it, top dog even if it started as a 273 2 barrel.

Seriously, these little cars have gained a lot of ground in the last few years. Look at that car. You couldn't build one close to that nice for that asking price. So yeah, I say it's probably worth it, unless there's something glaring the seller is leaving out.

Let me put it this way if I had the funds I would buy it. If it's what you want don't cheap out just buy it.

Narrow stripes look too narrow and stripes look off center on rear of roof. Headliner, door panels etc are trashed . Lot of stuff not original .

I'm not an early-A guy, but if it is what it appears to be I would say the price might be a little bit high, but probably not outside of haggling range of what it should be.

The issue that I see is that there are no pictures of anything under the car, or the typical places that these cars rust. So, from the pictures the car looks pretty good. But none of the usual trouble spots are pictured.

So I'd say you'd absolutely have to confirm that the rest of the car actually looks like the pictures to be able to say it's worth the asking price. If it's super clean it could be close. If it's a 20 footer with rust in all the usual places, well, not so much.

Very good assessment. I agree 100%. I was too lazy to type all that out. lol

No pics of the underside, and no real detailed pics or drivetrain build in general so it's hard to say without seeing in person. It could easily swing either way. If I was buying a redone classic, I'd want to see detailed pics of all the body and paint work at the very least. From my experience, sellers who don't offer that up front are generally hiding or glossing over something. Not always though. It doesn't seem like crazy money, from the ad. Could be a great car.... or not!

It is a complete package, good rearend (new) a fresh 340 ci small block, I would think it's a good ride not having over 50 thousand miles on it, really need to get under it and hands on look, it could be worth the asking price, but I have never paid asking price on anything.. look it over, if it's solid and what you want it's hardcto find one built with good new parts.

I just have to ask. What do you drive?
two of my four current mopars are manual, i just sold my 65 dart 4spd, and the previous 64 & 5 darts were manual. the barracuda is auto because it came that way from the factory with a console, the 68 dart is auto on the column because i'm building it as a nod to an M code.

those are the mopars. i hope this meets your expectations for my bona fides.
