I am working on my '70 Duster with standard interior. I'm replacing the faded cardboard covering on the package tray. Is the cardboard attached to the headliner? How did the factory do it, can anyone tell me?
The original headliner is in great condition and this car is getting a sympathetic resto so I am trying to renew only the stuff required. Thanks for your advice!!

Pretty sure it just kinda pinched in there by the top of the back seat.
I know for sure it's not attached to the headliner.

^yep- pushes in under the sail panels and below the rear window, then there's a couple clips that slide onto the front edge of it before the seat back is installed.

Yes you must pull out the rear seat.I went to WalMart bought some cloth material and spay glue and covered mine.

Thanks guys,
I will look at it again. I already have the seats out of it. When I tug on the cardboard it seems to pull on the bottom of the headliner.....maybe it has just bonded to it over time...I will get a plastic scrapper and will try to separate where it touches the bottom of the headliner and see if in fact it will just slide out. I will report back with the results. Thanks!
