painting a console

How should I strip the console in my 65 barracuda to paint. Is there anything special I need to do other than sanding and cleaning.

Be careful sanding too much, so you don't remove the texture/grain of the console. Clean it really well, then use an adhesion promoter before prime/paint.

Here's mine painted, just wanted to see what I can do, not going to use it, used wheel aluminum for the center, satin black for the center stripe and chrome paint for the outer edge and gear indicator as well the surrounding or the ash tray, lots of bus tape to mask off different stages.
