Painting over Chrome (non A-body)

-
Another option is see if you can buy a new set of the paintable rsm sport bumpers from the dealer. These will be in primer. Drop em off at a body shop to get painted to match, then bolt em on in a weekend, and sell your chrome ones on craigslist to recoup some of the cost. Ditto for the grille

I've been looking for the part #'s of the primer bumper or even a painted bumper but have only found the chrome bumpers so far.

Honestly, a wrap, plastidip, or painting it yourself are your only cheap options. Actually wrapping it is very costly if you have a pro do it but you can do it yourself if you practice a bit and take your time. That said, if you're wanting an exact color match then expect to pay for it which goes against what you said you wanted, ie; cheap. Make a decision and pay your price.

I've tried getting ahold of a couple of local paint shops, it's probably easier if I do it on Friday during their open business hours. I know the hardest part will be getting a shop to paint over the chrome, a gloss black may look ok, but not a perfect match since my truck is not gloss black but has some sparkle to it in the sunlight.

I've used vinyl wrap once... on my dart, it was cheap wrap so it is not the
stickiest but it has held up pretty good. I may get some and give it a go, to see how it turns out. I'm also going to head to the local junk yard this friday for some cheap chrome pieces to try painting them and see how they turn out.

Primed replacement bumpers cost more than chrome bumpers and you still have to paint them. 5ZB41TZZAD. try that

So not many shops around me want to paint over chrome bumpers.

I found this fancy 3m vinyl wrap that matches my truck pretty dang close! For the mirrors I purchased some new painted mirror caps that are the same color as my truck.

I should get the rest delivered on Wednesday then I'll take the bumpers off on Friday and start on it. Figured if it comes out shitty then I'll just pay a professional to do it haha.

Watch CKwraps on Youtube. He's got a lot of install info on his channel to show you how to get it done right.

That's the same guy I've been watching. He makes it look so easy... kind of like how 70aarcuda did when I would go to his hous or he would come to mine to work on these old mopars.

Front and rear bumper wrapped. First time ever doing big pieces on the outside of the car. I think it looks great for it really being my first time.

The rear mirrors got brand new paint matched caps, so those are not chrome anymore and then I just sanded then painted the tow hooks. We see how they hold up.

Now to just debadge it and wrap the window trim.
