I am pretty sure that I used a 904 park rod in my 727. It goes into park, but is very hard to get out. I have to rock back and forth while pulling on the shifter until it pops out. We have been trying to park on level ground and leave it in neutral, but that is not always an option.

Before I drain the fluid and pull the pan, I would like to make sure that it is possible to put the wrong park rod in.

If anybody knows, please respond. Thanks.

The park rods are NOT the same. They will fit but the bends are slightly different and will cause just what you described.

Thanks! I found a 727 rod in my stash, verified by pictures I found on this site. I am pretty certain after your answer, that I did put the wrong rod in.

Sure enough, I had a 904 rod in it. Swapped a 727 rod into it this afternoon. Comes out of park easy now.

I remember seeing a TSB about the "hard to get out of park" deal and I don't remember what year or what their fix was
