That is amazing. Watched the whole thing. Wonder how much they get for that car?
 
I watched this episode the other night. It's just a longer version of "how it's made".
When I worked @ FoMoCo's Wixon Assy. plant, making the Mark VIII, and their new "FWD" Continental, we used that same process for attaching the roof to the D pillar (think of the area just behind/above the rear door, to the back window), on the Continental.
Clamped on a Delrin clamp, that had cool water circulating through it (to keep the panel cool and aligned, then laid down a bead. We still needed to use a process that "flame sprayed" on that area, a MIG type of material (zinc/bronze I think ?), to use as a body filler, to raise the area for smoothing out the seam. No more lead fillers at the factory.
 

Too bad its not workable with a regular mig welder.
 
Not sure if this is relevent to original post....

I tig welded a deep sump oil pan (10 quart) using 12 gauge copper wire . Nice flow and no leaks so far ?
 
That's interesting. What gas do you use?
