Just came across something I'd never heard of before, "MIG brazing"

PBS has a series called "Raw to Ready," the other night showing how Bentley cars are made. Not that I care about Bentley nor the snobs that buy them.

But they showed MIG BRAZING for attaching body panels at lower temp to prevent warping. Hell, I've never heard of that.........

That is amazing. Watched the whole thing. Wonder how much they get for that car?

I watched this episode the other night. It's just a longer version of "how it's made".
When I worked @ FoMoCo's Wixon Assy. plant, making the Mark VIII, and their new "FWD" Continental, we used that same process for attaching the roof to the D pillar (think of the area just behind/above the rear door, to the back window), on the Continental.
Clamped on a Delrin clamp, that had cool water circulating through it (to keep the panel cool and aligned, then laid down a bead. We still needed to use a process that "flame sprayed" on that area, a MIG type of material (zinc/bronze I think ?), to use as a body filler, to raise the area for smoothing out the seam. No more lead fillers at the factory.

Too bad its not workable with a regular mig welder.

Not sure if this is relevent to original post....

I tig welded a deep sump oil pan (10 quart) using 12 gauge copper wire . Nice flow and no leaks so far ?
