Hi

I'm changing to green bearings on my 8.75 and need to remove the thrust block from the carrier. I have never done this before so I'm wondering how to remove the spider gears... more accurately how to remove the peg that the spider gears are on so that I can remove the thrust block.

Is the peg threaded into the carrier as one end has a slot as though a large screwdriver is needed and if so right or left hand thread? Or perhaps it is pressed in in which case I do have a press to do this easilly.

Thank you and hope everyones having a great weekend!

that peg is called the cross pin. there is a retaining bolt on one side of it that threads into the carrier. Remove the bolt, pop the pin out, and the thrustblock should come right out.
