I hate this rule at NHRA tracks. At Texas Motorplex today, 1st round I pulled a .000 light and a 6.473 on a 6.47 dial, which I thought was pretty good for footbraking. It was certainly a personal best for me. I come up for second round and they tell me that the guy who had the bye 1st round didn't get his bye due to an even number of cars, so he gets the bye 2nd round and I get nuttin'. I was happy as hell to have to have a 3 total package, but it didn't give me any advantage. I mostly race at IHRA tracks, where if you have the bye and there is an even number of cars you get lane choice and your bye is done.

I race at a nhra track and the bye is exhausted the next round like your second senrio.Maybe that rule is per Division.

NHRA quit caring about the Sportsman Racers decades ago. For that reason my former partner (RIP) and I went over to IHRA. We got to know the officials over the years and they genuinely cared about the Sportsman classes. At the larger events, they made sure to ride the pit area letting us know that our classes had been called. Some of them would come through the pits after the day was over and chat with us, help us out if they could, point us to someone who had a particular piece we may have needed, and so forth. It's unfortunate that there aren't many IHRA tracks in the southern area of the country. I miss the overall friendly attitude.

That's an AWESOME run you had!! Well done!!

Your last sentence is how the NHRA-owned Gainesville track does it. Even number of cars and it's just tough luck for you.

You get a bye, you use it that round , or lose it. Even number of cars, too bad!
But if you DO get a bye, you're not getting another one!

(At least that's how EYE would run it!)

And congrats on an unbelievable footbrake package!!!

If there was an IHRA track near me, the nhra would never see me again!
But then, I wish there was any track near me.

Kinda like the one that's five miles away that the f#@king nhra won't let us use.

I would have asked for the rule book and/or written track/divisional rules where this application applied.

Been around long enough that track faves get benefits, everyone else loses. Total BS IMO, the bye vanishes when he hits the beams to pair off in first round.

You always seem to have a problem with someone else. Is that why your reaction score ratio so high?
