has anyone swapped to a petronix in their points distributor? i want to stay stock appearing but not a big fan of points and petronix only ads one wire. was thinking i would just wrap and hide it and with the 71 air cleaner you will never see it anyways.

good system or should i buy two of them, one for a spare?

I had them in my Dart for a while on a slant six. Every bit as easy to drop in as a new set of points, never gave me any problems, though they probably won't make any more power than points when they're both adjusted right. Just that they stay adjusted right.

In case you're wondering why I swapped them out, they were still working great. I just swapped them out because I wanted to use a Lean Burn distributor for my EFI swap.

I had a set in my 66 Ranchero before my Mopar days.... It worked out pretty good, I was only 16 when I did it and it was straight forward. Back then I was probably hoping for an extra 50 HP but I think it might of idled a little better.

its a 100% stock 340. i am a big block guy so anything i do to this thing wont make it run like a big block anyways. lol

not loking for power, just never been a fan of dual point distributors.

I have put a Pertronix system with their flamethrower coil in my stock 340. Very happy with it so far. Easy to install and it gave me better idle, start-ups, fuel economy etc.
Won't give you any extra power, but if the points are old or/and poorly tuned it can certainly give you the feeling of a stronger engine or at least a properly tuned one.

They have 2 systems, I ended up getting the one that uses full 12 volts to
it and bypasses the ballast resistor all together. Have had it in for about
a year now with good luck (knock, knock). Looks like stock too.
