Photo garage/ and how to articles

Dont get me wrong but why do I need to check or un check garages/how to articles?
Before I even start my search?

Maybe Im wrong ,but most people helping this site dont have time farting around with that.

On the dropdown, click PREFERENCES

Uncheck:

Display unread article count above navigation tab
Display unviewed Garage items count above navigation tab
