Went to the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Orange County event yesterday as our club was fortunate to be asked to bring several members cars for show-only in conjunction with the first BJ auction event in Orange County, CA.
Their were so many beautiful cars, both as show only, and also those up for auction. Also lots of vendors and displays. Quite an event - make sure to get out to one if you can.
I know it's a hobby for some and a business for others but It's hard to believe so many gorgeous and rare cars up for auction as it's such a labor of love to build a car.
Anyway, enjoy the pics. You won't see any Chevys or Fords because I'm drawn to my first love, Mopars, and then rare and beautiful examples of those marques you just don't see that many of. Give me a few minutes to post all the pics - there's a bunch.
First up are our club members cars that were there for the show. It was overcast in the morning when I shot these, sunny later in the day:

More show cars. Oh, and I lied, a few old Fords as they were just too nice to ignore.

SoCal long roofs!!! I loved the Chrysler. Yeah, yeah - another Ford, but it was nice.

Check out this beautiful 1948 Hudson Commodore convertible. One of only 65 built.
My early childhood was with Hudsons as it was the only car my dad would own. He bought a new one every two years, trade the older one in and pay cash for the balance (wish I could do that now). I've never seen a Hudson convertible before.
Check out the wild cable and pulley arrangement that drives the windshield wipers. I've never seen anything like that on any other vehicle.

Some selected auction cars that were shown inside one of the show buildings. Some nice Mopars including the "Mod Squad" tv show Challenger and Steve Strope-built "Hammer" hemi-powered Road Runner, a couple of very nice Shelby Series 1 (these were powered by Oldsmobile Aurora engines), and a completely way-too-much excess DeTomaso with a gold-plated 4.6-liter Ford.

More "tent cars". A beautiful Auburn 'Boat tail' roadster and a sweet 1933 Plymouth coupe.

This 1974 TransAm was just like my very first brand new car. I sure didn't realize when I ordered it that it would be only 1 of 4648 455/automatic TransAms built. Sure wish I still had it (my 'ex' got it when we divorced and proceeded to trash it).

Here's the last of the pics. One more Mopar - a Paxton-blown 440 'Cuda. And (oops, lied again) a Chevy, but it's wild! The only twin-turbo mid-engine 1963 split-window Corvette I've ever seen.

Hi Leanna -
Sorry, I missed the Hudson pickup at Barrett-Jackson. I've seen a couple in the past few years on city streets here in SoCal. Neat looking pickups - love to have one but I'm fund-limited to just trying to get my '69 Dart finished!
Try to get to a Barrett-Jackson event if you can sometime. We really enjoyed it.
