Have been working on identifying my sewer line from the house to the street sewer main (FL)

Somebody had the forethought to put this in the ground back in 2005 when the City Sewer and City Water was put in. Pretty sure it was the city water crew, as it is all professionally done.

City Water has been up and running for years, the city is getting lined up now to tap the sewer main for that final connection as the place is currently on a good septic system.

Here is the dark core picture of the street clean out as it is heading down to the sewer main 3' below.

Now I was trying to figure out how to get some pictures up from the bottom of that sewer main feed pipe.

Trying to snap some pictures as dark as it was.

Then the Sun came out from behind the clouds shinning bright, and perfectly aligned with the center core of that 3" feed pipe, clearly shinning all the way to the bottom.

Can see the sewer main there at the bottom of the 3" pipe. Had I have waited 10 minutes more the opportunity would have been gone.

What are the odds of that Sun alignment, right then and there when I needed it?

This proving everything is in place, ready for the City to come out and do the final tap connection with the sewer main.

The nice part is it's all Grandfathered in ready to go.

Planets and the Sun linning up in your favor. I don't argue with success, I will take every break I can get. Wild !!!

I hear you. I love having the right amount of light at the right time. No matter how many lights I have in my garage, I often go out into the sunlight to check things. Nice, clean car! is that F8 green? I'd love to see more pictures of that.

I just realized that I didn’t post the sewer popper pic in the other thread! :BangHead: I’ll just post it here because it is relevant, lol. This is just outside of our camper at the lowest point before the sewer line goes underground. The top would pop out and stop a backup from getting in the house, way before it got up far enough to get in.

Just woke up from an afternoon nap at 5:57 p.m. today. After out and about chasing errands this afternoon.

There is that "Sun Beam" again.

Shinning through the upper window from West to East.

I will take that as a sign that things are on the right track, and everything will be working out just fine.

Cool lookin trailer!

If the system is fine, why in world would you want to tap into the city system and pay a bill every month?

Mandatory Connection by City of Palm Bay, Passed on 11-2023. Have until August 2025 to get Septic to Sewer conversion completed.

They are worried about runoff getting into the Indian River Intercostal Waterway/Lagoon, just 1000 feet away across Hyw US1.

There are lots of old, failing non-serviced septic systems that are the problem, and everyone with a good system is now paying the price for their negligence. They want all septics abandoned.

So additional ongoing non-stop monthly billing based on how much water you use for the City Sewer Service.

Thanks for the good question.

Get that cement septic tank and drainfield out of the ground, and it will make a great area there to build a new 3 car/hobby shop.

Can you just bust the top of it in and then fill it with sand? It looks like you have a pretty good sized lot there!

Yes it is a 3 piece cement top that is 6" thick. Remove the tops and it opens the tank.

The common abandonment is break out the tank floor (so it will not hold water) with a jack hammer and cave in the walls and fill over with a product called Fill Dirt.

The problem with caving in the walls is it leaves all kinds of voids and air pockets in there, then the ground area keeps settling over time > it is a crappy way to do it in my opinion.

I want to break up the tank and remove as much of it that's in the ground that I can so that it is a clean building site with no burried obstacles.

If a person wants to put up a power pole, you don't want to be running into an old septic tank in the process.

One other good option is it's legal to turn the septic tank into a cistern for irrigation purposes like watering a big lawn. Rain water catch tank, much better to water lawns with than chlorinated city water.

You're right about the power pole scenario. I worked at the power company for 45 years, 28 of them as a lineman. Customers told us wrong location of septic tanks twice. One time, I drove a bucket truck over one that wasn't supposed to be there and busted it. We had to leave when a domestic squabble occurred when the husband got home after his wife called him to tell him what happened. The tank had dozens of rubbers floating at the top. He had a vasectomy before they moved there.....and they had the tank put in a year prior. The next time was when we were installing an underground service to a new house. They told us the tank was in the front yard, which was good since we had to go to the meter base on the back of the house. We were plowing in the service with a vibratory plow. We cut the septic tank in half! The builder had to eat that one.

Speaking of Mandatory Sewer Connection, one step closer now.

Making Progress

Shoveled back the sod and some depth on the left driveway. Getting ready for their sewer tap dig.

That could make a nice Double Driveway now with a little curb island in the middle to protect the water and sewer access pipes.
