Has anyone removed their plastic splash sheilde from the front frame rails? I remember mine were riveted. Has anyone used body bolts? The rason I ask is that I do not have a "g:cheers:iant" rivet gun.

You can thread the holes with a tap and use screws or small bolts or you can use self tap hex screws.

I have seen both styles but the later cars were screwed in with coarse screws with bolt heads, almost like a wood screw thread.

I did my 69 Barracuda and did not need a special rivet tool.

Cheap one that I have had for years from Home Depot that had 3 sizes of dies and swivel head.

With the rivets supplied with the new splash shields.

That says to me the reproduction splash shields come with aluminum rivets.
The large diameter steel rivets do require the proper riveter. Most body shops will have one.
I've been to the nearest body shop several times to get new outside can openers riveted on various cars. He'll stop what he's doing and give me 10 minutes and I'll give him 10 bucks.
I know what a quality pneumatic riveter costs.
