plug under main cap

took the 360 apart getting ready for the rebuild.When I removed the rear main cap I thought there is soposed to be plug in the block so the oil would go to the filter and not bypass it am I right,I see nothing there.

There is a plug that gets driven in from the bottom of the block, above the #5 main cap. The purpose for it is to direct the oil thru the oil filter. Without it, the oil will go right into the engine from the pump with no filtering. It's common to find a second one driven over the original, or it missing altogether when the engine has been rebuilt.

I didnt see mine either but after closer inspection it was there just VERY DEEP in the hole was all!!

here.. it's just a plain cupped plug.
