Poorly designed sway bar mounts?

I just got an email back from Victory Performance.

They said

"Feel free to call John at Addco (800) 338-7015. He can walk you through it.

Make sure you're installing the bar with the weight on the car's tires."

I've put in a call, and will update when I get a call back.

I spoke with john Wright at Addco today about the poor fitment of the bar I just installed. He said that on some cars they fir fine. Others fit like mine. We traded some pics and the bottom line is he is sending me a replacement bar. One that does NOT have the extra kick in the bar.

Back in the early 80's when I put the 1 1/8 ADDCO bar on my '71, I didn't
like the angle, and my father, who was a machinst, made some brackets that
bolted on like the ADDCO angle brackets, to the shock bolt.
They extended downward to a point approximately where the factory tabs were, but had a bend that put the hole/angle in line with the links' end.
They are stainless steel, custom machined and bent, 1/2 inch thick, but machined down a little thinner at the upper end.

Too bad he's no longer with us. When he made a part, it was permanent.
He also made stainless brackets to replace the rear frame mount "u" brackets from ADDCO, which broke very early on....

I put over 200,000 miles on them...that car's been waiting to go back to the body shop now for 10 years.. at least it's inside.

That seems like a weird answer that some fit fine and others fit like yours did. Glad he is sending you another bar.

I originally tried the Addco bar on my Dart and didn't like the setup at all. The mounts on the K-member are really weak. I returned it and got a Firmfeel bar and not only did it go on easy, it fit and the mounts are probably more stout than the k-member!
