Hello all. I've got a frayed positive cable on my '64 Dart GT (273 with auto). It's a short cable that goes from the positive terminal a short distance to where it plugs into a harness. Never seen one of these before. I've checked a couple of my regular vendors with no luck, any idea who would stock these? Or does it go by a name other than 'positive battery cable'?

Is that an actual plug or just a weatherproof cover going into a cable protector sleeve?

This appears to be some sort of replacement; IIRC the original positive battery cable would have had the wire crimped to the terminal. At least it was that way on my '66. Aftermarket replacements usually have a short run of the heavy gauge wire with a crimp connector to splice into the harness. This looks like somebody just stuck a very large butt splice connector in the middle of the wire.

That is a cable sleeve and boot. Here is the way mine was done.
Use a standard battery cable and put it into a sleeve.

Yours looks factory correct (except for the plastic strap clamp) and actually in pretty good condition. Last time I checked, it was reproduced but expensive. I can't remember who had them though.

Here is an original repro part for a 1961 Dart (not correct for your car) but it has the same kind of sleeve and boot as yours for reference.
