Hi Y'all,

I am putting a small block in my 67 cuda. I want to keep the stock hood. I have an edelbrock performer RPM #7176 manifold, and a carter 625 carb. I have a commando 273 style air cleaner lid, and a custom base i made for it out of a stock 4bbl air cleaner base from the boneyard.

Anybody here have a similar setup? Can you tell me if you had any clearance issues with it and the stock hood? I really dont want to put a fiberglass scooped hood on it if i can help it.

BTW, the reason i am asking this, is i am not ready to set the engine back in just yet. The car is currently as you see it on my avatar.

Thanks in advance.
Matt

these questions come up from time to time
it would be great if we could make a little spread sheet with distance from the valley to the hood, height of different intakes, height of carbs and height of aircleaners

for what its worth, they do make drop down air cleaner bases that lower the cleaner down around the carb
but I don't know if that would work with the 273 unit

The base sets the lid down fairly low, the big question is the eddy rpm manifold. That sucker sits up pretty high.
