You need to know the installed height of the pistons. Tight quench will keep the close areas clean. If there are actual impact marks, they hit. If they are just both really clean, they are probably fine but you want to know what you have for space in there. Get a dial indicator, check the pistons at TDC at the area closest to the valley, and make sure you rock them. Then measure the compressed head gasket. Then see what you have. Given th stroke and bore size if it's more than .030, you're fine.
