I have a 1969 dart with a 340, the car originally came with a slant six so it has the smaller steering parts. I need a 1-1/8 sized pit man arm shaft. I would like to get a quick ratio if possible. what do you guys recommend? I see borgeson makes a quick ratio with part number BRG800126 not sure if its a good option.

There are a few rebuild services that will rebuild your box to factory Firm Feel specs (originally for cop cars, emergency vehicles etc) or even tighter for better road feel: Firm Feel Inc. in Vancouver WA, Red Cap in the Seattle area are two I've had good luck with. It really improved the road feel on 2 of my Darts.

unfortunately I dropped my original one while i was rebuilding it and cracked it and the used replacement i bought was the wrong one so a rebuild is out of the picture. I'm Looking to just buy a new one at this point but thanks for the info! Good to know for any future projects.

I think the closest to NEW you are gonna get is a rebuilt original from a reputable company.

the borgeson is not a "direct" replacement. it needs the supporting cast of a properly valved pump and a coupler for the steering shaft along with the proper fluid lines.

while it is a little bit faster ratio, it's 14:1 v the factory 16:1 it's not tremendously faster. however it does have a much more modern feel to it.

for an absolute bolt in affair, i'd go with a factory box that's been re-valved for a firmer feel.

firm feel can help you out with that, and has the correct pitman that you'd need.

or you can contact steer & gear and they can set you up too.
