I need to add a little fluid to the resevoir. Can someone tell me the type to use? Is it considered just regular power steering fluid or ATF or Power steering fluid+4? I think the +4 is for vehicles after 1998.

I lost fluid through filler cap after lifting front end of car off ground and working steering back and forth to listen for noise in the travel with engine off. I'm assuming it was forcing oil in system into resevoir and wasn't allowing oil to circulate in the system? Any thoughts? I'm sure system is fine?

Thanks.

i just use dextron 3 trans fluid most of the time in there.

Okay just so I'm 100% clear. Its okay to use ATF Automatic Transmission fluid in the power steering reservoir? I have some fluid left over compatible for Dexron/Mercon applications. Its good for Dexron 2 2E 3 and Mercon stuff. Is this stuff good to use?

Thanks again.

From my experience you have to have the car running when you turn the wheel back and forth, otherwise, the fluid can be forced through the cap. The system should be fine.
