Prefab steel buildings

-
I did not go through and read many posts.
However I have plenty of experience in steel pre fabbed buildings.
I used to make and sell them.
I still do once in awhile.
Snow load is important.
Also make sure the metal ribs on the roof go vertical and not horizontal.

I used Carolina Carport.

Most manufacturers have specific widths and lengths.

Most web sites show the widths available and lengths as multiples.

IE you can get 10, 12, 16, and 20 foot wide in multiples of 23" or 42" lengths.

The width would be the span and the length would be the spacing.
got my 42x22 from carolina carports to and got it a extra 2 feet high 10 ft role up door and a walk in door run about 3200 bucks 7 years ago!

I agree with the vertical roof option.
Still doesn't all fall off (leaves, branches, etc), but MUCH easier to deal with.

Versatube is what I put up to cover my pontoon boat for protection from the heavy Winter snows. I like it a lot and it has held up well. About $1200 for a 14x20 foot. My lovely 65 year old wife and I put it up by ourselves. Steve

that would be big enough if i could put it nearer the road like i wanted too, then i could back straight into it
BUT the wife doesnt want it there, because she thinks it will be an eye sore
and i may have to cut down some trees for it

You gotta both be happy that's for sure. I think you can adjust the height on either side with out any problem also.

So not all steel kits are apples to apples.
Like mine actually have engineered trusses.
I know others do , but not all.
Some just use a bender and use the metal to roll over it without purlins.
Those are not very good.
Just because you save money upfront does not mean you save money !
Please do yourself a favor and research the companies in your area !
I fixxed lots of the other companies buildings after heavy snow .
Never have I had a problem with any of the ones I fab.
On the pics I showed I used 2x4 for purlins instead of steel .
That was so I could run them a foot out for eaves.
Plus you also want to find out what the metal panels have for coating ?
There are several different ones.
Gage of the panels 29 and 26 are both standard.
Then the gage of the galvanized framing is important.
Best of luck !
Jim

Mine was available in a color that's nearly identical to our house.
