Prepping factory k-member for race duty

-
K members for HiPo engines were supposed to have more complete welding and denoted by the washer welded to the front . My 340 car has the washer as did my 6 pak B-Body K-member. I never compared one side by side with a non HiPo one .

My slant 6 K-member looked like it was built in a prison, on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning after a holiday. Lol,

While ypu have the car apert you should weld the body seams to reinforce the unibody beyond the meager spotwelds the factory did .
I am putting an 8 pt cage and frame ties in the car, should be pretty stiff.

I have two 1970 factory 340 K members. Both have the washer welded to the front of the K member. I've posted several photos, and will post more if anyone is interested. I've heard various theories for over a dozen years as to why they're there. Following intently.
