Friend of mine has offered to let me use his 4500 gpm pressure washer to give this a try. I live on 25 acres, so the mess is not a problem.

Any one have one they have had a good experience with? What media did you use?

I have something like a 4k psi / 4 gpm pressure washer. It's driven by a 420 CC engine (which are commonly rated as 13 to 15 hp). I bought it 10+ years ago, I don't use it that much. Early on I bought a wet-blasting attachment. It does work, I've used ordinary play-sand, and ground-up glass, and have re-used them (collected and then filtered through a screen). The glass or sand must be very very very dry. I've just used the rod and tube the adapter came with, stabbed into a bucket of the sand/glass. A better way would be to use a pot made for holding / feeding the abrasive. I've needed an assistant to re-position the rod in the bucket as I'm blasting to keep the flow constant. It works great if you can keep the abrasive flowing into the feed tube. I cleaned up some suspension parts last year:

I'd really like to have a massive air compressor for blasting, but the cost for something that can put out the required CFM and pressure for the use I'd put it to is too high. I've occasionally looked for used compressors. You can't beat water blasting for the price, but there are things that you just don't want to water blast (like chassis underside) without having a plan to get the mud out.
