Have to pull my engine out, low oil pressure, scored oil pump and ruined main bearing and crank journals.
Any tips, it's a 4 speed, leave the tranny in and pull from the bellhousing?
Looking for the quickest and easiet way but never had one out of this car, 70 Swinger 340 4 speed.
Looking to do it Sunday.
Thanks, all ideas appreciated.

anymore, i like to do them together cause that's easier to do alone.**** take the transmission in for bearings and seals etc if it's never been done so ya don't have to do it later, most 70's have some milage

Small blocks aren`t bad. Drop the rear crossmember and take the two nuts off the bottom of the engine mounts. I would leave the transmission attached to the engine but remove most everything off the front of the engine down to the timing cover. That`ll make room for you to lift and tilt the engine/trans when it comes out. Even the manifolds can stay on if it`s easier for you.

also remember to raise the front a bit so you have room for the tailshaft on the trans. to tilt down far enough so it doesnt smack the ground. if you have headers leave them in place but tie them against the sides so they arent in the way. good luck and hopefully the block is ok.

You can raise the rear of the car 3-4" and it will help with getting it in and out in one big piece

take out ur radiator. take the hood off, make sure u trans is unbolted. easiest to take the hump out. unbolt it from the mounts while having it supported by the hoist break it free from the trans/ and pull it slowly towards u. thats y the rads gotta come out. theres alotta manuevering n such but it shouldnt be too bad

Pulled the tranny then the engine separately and bellhousing as a lump, went well, hope it back just as easy. Thanks for the pointers.
