OK. Its time and I'm going to pull the engine the next week or two. The oil pressure is gone and I have a rattle. So I'm looking for the lessons learned here. I like to work smarter, not harder. The trans was rebuilt, so unless its easier I'll leave it in. The last engine I pulled was a 71 Challenger 30 years ago.... I know I'm an older guy on here....So I know the basics. Does the front radiator mount?? body part that holds condenser, lights, horn, grill, all that have to come off. It looks like the engine will come out with just the fan and radiator removed. Give me your tips please!

Craig

Drain rad and remove hood while draining,
remove fan then rad,
dis-connect all electrical,(don,t forget ground strap)
remove throttle and kickdown cables,
remove manifold bolts,pull manifolds back,
remove t.convertor bolts, then bell housing bolts,
drop starter while under there,
remove motor mount bolts,
hook chain to front of left head and back of right head,
hook chain to hoist and lift just abit,
wiggle,wabble engine free from bellhousing,
lift and pull back with the hoist,
continue lifting....engine should come out.:D

To add, there is a access plate covering the t-converter bolts.Oh and reomove the distributor cap if its a small block just in case

Also mark your t-converter and plate so you can line them back up when you install.

If it is a working ac car try to move the the compressor to the side and wire it out of the way. Also put a piece of cardboard in the engine compartment against the condensor to protect it from damage.

Good write up and suggestions. I'm guessing nothing special. This time I'll remember the cardboard and the starter!!! I'm rebuilding the AC so it is coming out anyway.

Thanks Craig
