does anyone know a person or company that does pushbutton shifter modifications to run a later model trans? About ran out of patience with Imperial...its been over a year they have had my shifter....

Are you talking about an A518 o/d? I believe someone makes an adaptor cable for '65 up trannies but not sure who.

Just measure how much the cable moves while going through the dash-gears, then measure the distance of movement needed for the transmission's gear-lever to go through it's selections. Drill a new hole in the gearselector lever on the transmission for the correct ratio.
Then make a bracket to hold the cable steady on the transmission.

Imperial Services makes such a kit.

Orders/Contact: 989-652-6309

You must send in the push button assembly for modification. The kit comes with a bracket that installs on the transmission itself.

I have the kit to allow use of an A999 with a Gear Vendors overdrive, but have not yet installed it in my 1963 Dodge Dart GT convertible.

Here's their website: http://www.imperialservices.net/

Good Luck.

yeah, Im dealing with them now at Imperial, but its been 18 months already, and its always"we are waiting for a cable"...Ive heard it for a year now...

Tell them to send it back NOW. I bet they lost it.......;-(

Bummer, I run a 1962 BB 727 on my small block Dynamic made for me in the 1980's, still using the same cables and push those damn button daily as its reverse manual.

Sorry to hear of your grief though.........

thats the original trans? They told me not to use my 904 pushbutton trans with my 360/Paxton set up...said I was making too much power

You could design your own and have a custom cable house make it for you. You could even make it stronger than the original style. That is how I plan to do the cable on my '56. If you need some specialized connector on the top end, you could make it yourself and send it to them to keep the costs down.

Jegs also sells generic push-pull cables that you might be able to make work.

yeah...Im not good with these trans issues... just want my system back... should have kept the original 64 trans and ran it till it blew up...

Send a PM to SlantSixDan. He knows the guy who is Imperial Services. I waited a long time for a transmission mount, and Dan was able to talk to him to pry loose the part. The guy is a one-man shop and often overwhelmed.
