putting on a car show ?

thats not 100% true. trophies will get a better car count faster but we used to pull in over 200 mopars and the thing people loved was that there was no trophies. (trophies can actually turn a lot of people away believe it or not.) they liked the laid back atmosphere. hell there were guys that wouldn't goto any other shows except for ours because of that.and it was only a $5 admission for the show. door prizes will go farther then a trophy in making people feel like they got something for nothing. and door prizes can be had for free or cheap. a well organized show and entertaining show will bring cars in and bring a lot of cars in.

well thats doable.. keep me updated with this show then. hell we drive 2 hours to white have Pa for a little 20 car show. whats another hour.lol

I must add that trophies are a must. I have attended many shows and the best ones that people remember and talk positive about are the ones that give a lot of awards. "People Feel When Trophies Are Awarded They Are Getting Something For Their (Let's Say) $10 Entry Fee." Trophies are not expensive and even with the economy you will be surprised how many businesses are still willing to donate for the advertisement. If you are creative trophies can be done for the price of a dash plaque. One show I was at took old rod and pistons epoxy them so the rod did not move, sprayed clear coat on them and epoxy a plaque on the flat were the wrist pin is with the shows name, date and the sponsor. You can most likely get the rods & pistons from a local auto machine shop and/or junk yard for free it you tell them what you are doing with them and you will knowledge they donated them.
I can agree KP. If your going to hold a "show",then trophies or plaques would be nice. I know I like to try and win an award once in a while. Now car cruises on the other hand I would hand out dash plaques.

I agree as long as it's not "top 50" baloney or something like that.......

It's kinda like the "Special Olympics" after awhile (no offense intended...makes a valid point).......Does everyone have to get a trophy?

I've seen shows down here that have hundreds of trophies ready to hand out......."Overall Best of Show" trophies are handed out like water (they give these out by the dozens at a single event....sound crazy to you? It defeats the purpose).

I like the old days when you had to really WORK for a trophy, and then you STILL didn't get one.........unless you were dang good with showin' your wares.

I guess I like real competition instead of Kool-Aid & Ribbons for every car.

There is a good old man I know who goes to the car shows. He has nothing but Mopars including a 08 Challenger. He is 70 something years old. He has to wear hearing aids. The hearing aids comes with a small remote control so he can turn them up or down. We was at a car show and he was messing with the remote. He said "Damn loud *** 50s music! I wish they would turn that **** off!" and the whole time he was turning down his hearing aids. LOL

Here's a piece of advice: Don't you DARE have some old greaser DJ playing Doo-Wop. I can't for the life of me understand how automotive stlyes morph and shift, but almost every car show I go to I still have to listen to 50 yr. old music.

I was at a show 3 yrs. ago and started F`in with the DJ to play some Foo Fighters, Offspring, or Tool. He had the same look on his face as when I ask my dog to get me my coffee....
yes very true i hate that stuff 2

I got to agree the oldies music gets real old at car shows. I went to a show today and the DJ actually played a good mix and wasn't loud and annoying.

Planning is underway !!

Thanks to Jim (jj2407ct) we have a location. The show will be held at Southworths in NewMilford Ct right off of rt 7

Wet t-shirts.donate the money for this to the brest cancer fondation . with a botty shaking event bring the 1's and have the guys toss them on stage and all the money for this event donate to the stop smoking fund. the group called NO butts...

Im not sure sure wet t-shirts and charities go well together.

I spoke with DrJay0 about being the DJ. I just need to give him the date. I also spoke with scamp173124 about helping his cause with the Shriner Hospital for children.

What about some Mopar Babes... If you have a local Hooters they will normal send a few girls to the show to pose with the car (and owners) for pictures.
