Question about door locks

Hey All,

One thing that drives me nuts in my 68 Val. is that you cannot open a locked door via the interior door handle. You have to manually unlock the door, then open it with the handle.

Does anyone know what year they started using the "unlock w/handle" option, and can i find a donor car with that hardware and transfer it to my 68?

SOME place I saw a 'mod' that "cured" this........involved bending/ breaking something on the original lock system

I think the OP wants to pull the door handle and have it unlock the door.

FWIW, I believe my '72 Swinger has this function, as do all the Mopars I own after that, from '75 to '07.

Yes that is the other half of the problem. Thank you. Now I need to figure out if I can mod it to unlock by using the interior door handle.

Exactly. Wonder if 69 or 70 had this capability and/or if 72 guts would work in a 68? Anyone ever try this?
