I have the black wrinkle finish mopar performance valve covers, and I would like to paint them orange. I have seen pictures from others that have done this. I'm wondering if there are any special steps that need to be taken to get good results, or if I just have to spray them and then buff the paint off the raised edges after it dries. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Sandblast the wrinkle off and use hi heat paint. I have not noticed any hi heat primer. I have used ethier tape (For the full fin) to protect the areas I wanted natural or a razor for just the top of the fin.

I sprayed mine right over the black wrinkle paint then wiped off the fins with lacquer thinner.

I've painted mine and then taken a piece of sand paper on a block and sanded em back to natural. Then blow off with air. Let em dry well first. I've tried wiping em off while wet after painting but did a little smearing. Good luck and we'll need some pics.

Did some of the wrinkle texture come through?
