ok need a new shifter, have a lokar but due to tunnel clearance i want to go with a ratchet/gate shifter question is can i use a ratchet shifter with a stock 727 valve body? just shift it into "d" and go?

Yeah, I have a Hurst Pro-matic 2 , it shifts fine in D, or ratchet back and slam through the gears!!

i just ordered the hurst v-matic 2 is both ratchet or gate shifter.. it was between that and b&m pro ratchet..

that means ill have a lokar floor mount shifter for 727 up for sale soon..

Can a TF take manual shifting or is it advisable to put in a manual valve body?

I'm doing a lot of manul shifting at the moment (on the column) as my TF is slipping between 2nd and 3rd but doesn't manually. Also manually I get so much more out of it...can really wind the teen up!

If it's slipping between the 2-3 shift sounds like you need to adjust the throttle pressure linkage (what everybody calls the kickdown linkage). Lengthen the adjustment to make it shift firmer and hold the rpm's higher.

And I run a quicksilver on my stock VB 727. Works great.
