quick steering

Do you mean manual or power? All ps boxes have the same ratio. 16:1 manual boxes are rare and expensive. If you already have ps you can add the "long" idler and pitman arms and that should cut some turns out of the lock to lock.

So no there isn't any low buck options.

mine is power steering

there was a link to an article someone on here posted about changing the feel of your power to either a more firmer feel or even how to adjust it for the steering feel you need. I seem to remember that it had to do with some shims (washers) but can't remember any more about it. I'd do a search on the power steering article and see if that's what your looking for.

If you mean more steering feel and not faster ratio there are some options. You can disassemble the ps gearbox and rebuild it with pieces designed for the mid 80's diplomat cop cars. You could also disassemble your ps pump and shim it. I have never done either, but they are documentated. I think they were both mopar action articles, but I could be wrong about that.

I've never done this and have no complaints about my PS, but here is some interesting info. It may take a moment to load.......

I you want you 16:1 power steering box to have faster ratio, there are a few options.

-Firm Feel longer T/A pitman arm. Will not with on an A-body with headers except for a big block with Schmacher Tri-Y headers. If you run the 340 HiPo style exhaust manifolds you will need to do some custom exhaust bending at the headpipe right at the flange.

-Steering Quickner. Modify your steering column to incorporate a compact quickner like this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/SMALL-BODY-21-STEERING-QUICKENER,8280.html Will take some well thought out and skillfull fabrication. Pictures for ideas here: https://www.google.com/search?q=ste...fHigKrhIDYCw&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=566

-Borgeson Saginaw 600 rebuilt 14:1 steering box. Bolt on but have to buy/put an U-joint type input from your steering column. $800 for the box only. http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/home.php?cat=142
