Hey all, Hope everyone is keeping from going stir crazy. I have a pretty simple question but looking for some opinions. Took out my original am/fm 40 some years ago to have an aftermarket stereo installed. I now have an original radio again and want to install it. Has 4 wires...Green and Black, I know go to the speakers. But it is not stereo and has a separate dial under the dash the balance the sound to rear speakers. I can toy with the hook up for those but if anyone can help with that to save me some time, I'd appreciate it. Also there is a Red which I assume is for power and and Orange? which I'm thinking may be for lights. Opinions on where is the best spot to hook these up. Interior is out so I can get a pretty good look but I can't really see any original connections. Thanks and Blessings in advance and stay safe.

Time for 20 questions:poke:

What car?
What year?
What options?
What radio?
Are speakers OEM?

Based on your description it sounds like an AM radio which would use only a single speaker in the dash.

The red is power
The orange is dash / back light
The green black are speaker.
Ground is provided thru the chassie to the car body.

Thanks. Car is a '72 340 Demon. The one just to the left here. Radio is AM/FM but they were mono. Came with rear speakers but I am confident I changed them. Front would be oem. SOB to change that at the time. Car had an after market AC unit when I bought it and I don't even believe we got that radio in there. I recently scrapped the AC unit. Attaching a pic of what the fader switch looks like. Mine is the same except the wires have been cut down to nubs. I'm guessing the two center wires are coming from the radio but not sure what happens after that with only 1 wire of each color coming off the sides. Any opinion on where to run the hot and backlight wires to for sake of ease and logic?
