Has anyone used helicoils to repair stripped threads in a rallye wheel centre cap?
I added some pics of the one I have successfully installed the helicoils on and my plan is to use 1/4 x 20 x 5/8” long stainless bolts with lock washers. Seems to fit to the wheel nice and tight

Helicoil is probably the most secure. I had some with just a few holes stripped out. I filled with jb-then tapped them. Holding up fine

My thought is fix it the best way and strongest way to never have to deal with the issue again. I taught that to my son racing all over the states. Teaching him a temporary fix is only a bandaid and you will pay for that when you least expect to.

Now he owns his own engine machine shop .

Using a 1/4 20 helicoil would be way I fixed them. My son would have probably used 1/4 28 with grade 8 bolts. LOL.

You did it right and you will never regret it. Nice job. Steve
