In 1969, Chrysler wanted to license the Tasmanian Devil character for their new 1970 Plymouth compact Sport Coupe and continue their use of Warner Brothers characters for their cars. They wanted to call the new car the “Taz”.

However, the license cost was too high and they couldn’t reach an agreement. Mopar went its own way and decided to call the new car a “Duster” and created their own logo tornado character for it.

This is what might have been if they had reached an agreement...

This was my first car (minus the lights and siren). It was a 1969 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door taxi with a slant 6 and auto. It was black and white like the cop car and it only cost me $200. I bought it in 1974. A 5 year old car for only $200?!!!. It lasted 3 years for me and I put a lot of miles on it (in addition to the likely 200,000 miles already on it). I loved it to death!
