may be a "modern" electric unit because of the switch. however, the pulley on the back reminds me of the unit on Grandma's sewing machine powered by the treddle. which, BTW, was a good place to lay your head and sleep when coming from WWII and having a big welcome home party for you and your buddies. or so I've been told.
