Where is the twilight zone? And what car are you working on? Maybe some one close to you has the proper parts required to do this safely and may make them available to you for a reasonable price?
I’m in San Antonio TX working on a 2nd gen Barracuda. Looking through FABO plenty of guys have done it with no issues so I expect it won’t be a problem.
It will be alright if its done right. I recommend leaving the old studs in and cutting off the threaded part to give the old holes integrity. Space the new holes evenly between the old holes. If this is a car with 9 inch drums, I would upgrade the spindles and everything to 10 inch drums and if you go that route may as well put disc brakes on it.
