I am rebuilding the rear brake setup in my 68 notch and come to find out the previous owner had two different style drums on it. One looks like a regular drum and one a bell style drum. I would like to have them matching but which one is correct or is one just a newer replacement?? It's a a 8 3/4 SBP 10" drum that has had the axles and drums drilled to LBP.

Thanks

I think the bell type came on 70 and later A's

The only replacement drums I've seen are the cast units. I'm told there's no problem with them going on axles that previously had the bell type. Personally, I am predisposed towards the cast as I think the greater mass will handle the heat better. But that's my 2¢ worth.

I have a pair of bells that came off my 71 demon that are sitting on a shelf. Swapped them out when I switched to lbp. Also I just used brand new volare drums on the rear of mine when I swappe to lbp. Cheap and easy. Cass at Dr. Diff suggeted them as the heapest easiest way to convert to lbp and thy work perfect

both my 68 FB Barracuda and 69 FB 'Cuda (both 8-3/4's) came with the bell drums, and so did my 75 Dart Sport (7-1/4). All small bolt pattern cars.

I was told by my brake guru that the flanged type drums were a snowbelt drum meant to keep snow and slush from entering the rear brake system. He called the "Canadien drums". Sounded like a reasonable answer, and he knows Mopar brakes. He has the non flanged drums readily available, but the flanged drums are off the map. Geof
