I have a 72 Dart with i think is a 8 3/4" rear end. it's a chrysler front loader it"s stamped 9 on
the top the drivers tube and on top of center housing. casting numbers are.......

I bet if you look again, the case # will end in 489. Later tapered pinion 8 3/4, with cone type lsd if so equipped. Great case, good gear selection, cone type suregrip not as stout as the clutch type, but rebuildable, contrary to what manuals say.
