Hello, I noticed my new trunk gasket in my 65 valiant is being crushed by the trunk "bumpers" that attached to the trunklid of the car

Is this correct or are you supposed to cut some of the bumper off so the trunk gasket goes not get crushed?

I thought about adjusting the trunklid a little bit higher but wouldnt exhaust fumes get in the car?

Any help would be great!

Don't take this the wrong way....I love pictures and I know i say this on every post LOL....show me some pics of gasket and bumpers...possibly wrong bumpers or wrong gasket????? how is the gap across the rear windshield area...too close would possibly put the rear deck lid to close to gasket????if you adjust out ward toward bumper more it may clear it....Just thinking out loud

If your trunk gasket is brand new,it,s going to be alot thicker than the original flattened out 40?yearold gasket. It should seat over time.2 cents

Sure ill get some pictures
Gap is really tight...maybe 3mm...id have to measure in the rear windshield area
Bumpers and gasket are correct...im 100 percent
I even compared the bumpers and gasket to my 40 year old set!
