rear view mirror ball loose

-
you don't say which mirror but if it is the interior rearview mirror, remove the mirror and on the back of the part that lies against the headliner you will see a plate that holds the ball and a screw to tighten.

If after tightening those three screws it's still loose, remove that steel plate and squeeze it a tiny bit in a vice to tighten up that socket.

my bad I forgot to mention that this is the inside mirror. what you said, I removed it & tightened the 3 mini screws & all good now. for sure might save me from an accident. RR

I removed the plate, set it on the concrete sidewalk and gave it a couple of good smacks with a ball peen hammer.
Worked great.

Like tightening up the adjuster threads on 273 rocker arms. :rofl: :rofl:

Works like a champ. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mine wouldn't stay tight and I got concerned about the threads in the housing, so I replaced the screws with small studs and used nylon locknuts. Holds adjustment without beating on the threads. Loctite on the studs.
