i have a 1964 4 door valiant slant six and i am looking to put the 4 barrel intake and the hooker headers and i was wondering were i could get a decent priced rebuild kit and not sure what cam i want yet any suggestions and also shouldent the motor be built stronger for the HP increase so what would your suggestions be

You will be disappointed if you dont do a reasonable amount of head work before just sticking a cam, 4 bbl, and headers on.

66aCuda's advice is good. If the car is not running, suggest breaking down the engine first as it will influence the budget. Especially critical is whether or not the engine needs to be bored out since that influences the rebuild kit you purchase. I recommend Performance Automotive Warehouse http://www.pawinc.com/ for the rebuild kit.

Suggest you work from the inside out. Re-bore first; clean up head, hardened valve seats, 3 angle valve job, mill head .050 for more compression second; camshaft third; intake and exhaust changes last. That way you're improving the engine in a way that you open it once and add as budget allows without having to rebuild the engine every time you want to make a change.

The head will take a .090 cut, but it may put the compression too high for 93 octane. From what I've read, a .050 cut will let the engine put out more power and still be friendly with the cheap stuff. SlantSix.org is a great source for help with the motor.
 
A .050 cut is not really worth doing. Your stock motor had a .020 head gasket the "new " one will be .040+ so your only changing by .020. I routinely cut .100 of the head and .050 from the deck. I DO feel however the other way around is better as I am getting into power adders, etc. And as ALWAYS MEASURE BEFORE YOU CUT. KNow what you want. There is a lot of meat in/on a slant engine. Most 225 engines I see have the slugs .185 or so down in the hole with 50+ cc chambers this gives you 7 or 8-1.
If I just wanted to pick numbers out of the air for a "stock" rebuild I would go .050 off the head and .025 off the deck this should give you 8.5 to 9-1.
