I am the "guy here" who offers aluminum brackets to swap a pair of 3.5" or 4" speakers in place of the single dash speaker. It mounts in the original location and would be a cinch to do while you have the A/C - heater box out of the way. Folks who have purchased my brackets reported back to me that these speakers have been used successfully:

By the way, my son installed a Secret Audio system in his Dart Sport several years ago. It sounded plenty good with two 6x9s under the package tray perforations and two 3.5" Volfenhag two-ways in the center dash location. The unit mounted under the passenger seat and the CD changer went into the trunk. It had a hard-wired controller he kept hidden under his split-bench armrest, and it also had a separate remote that worked off radio frequency, not infra-red (no line-of-sight issues).
