My parts guy phoned looking for front brake hubs cuz someone ruined hubs pounding out swaged wheel studs.
I supplied my last set off hubs, and delivered to the jobber.
Looking the Barracuda over, it was pretty nice, shop was doing a number on suspension and brakes, a $7,000 number I later found out.
Left my card in case of future issues, they were youngens working on a car of which they had very little knowledge.
Owner drove up a coupla weeks after getting vehicle back, - car wouldn't stay aligned, sometimes pulling left then to right.
He had taken it to a coupla of alignment shops, including one I recommended, there they found the rotten front frame, masked by pockets of debris, called me, said car needed to be condemned as it was unsafe .
Pix kinda show it all, but after I replaced the upper control mounts and nec rotten frame, - which required the engine come out for access to the frame.
Well, when frame was repaired, I was faced with putting the engine back in the car, - someone in previous years had rattle canned the engine bay black, was red/blue,what a mess.
I phoned the owner who was already pretty upset after spending $7k, and told him I couldn't put the engine back in the car.
I asked his intention for vehicle. He said he had owned it since 1999, and was his wish, now retired , to attend car few cars shows to see what they were like, then pass it on to his son.
Well right there, I explained that car shows can be sooo brutal with folks nit-picking, pointing out flaws. Generally being assholes, and a black engine bay on a Mopar would generate a lotta nasty comments.
Told him I wasn't gonna put the engine back in without painting the bay the same as car.
Wasn't gonna do it. Period.
He asked " how much ".
He'd taken such a beating, - I said cost of paint .
Turned out pretty good .
